Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media

On Sunday I watched, Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media a 1992 film by two Canadian independent filmmakers, Mark Achbar and Peter Wintonick. The film expands on Chomsky’s earlier book, Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media, which he co-wrote with Edward S. Herman. I have only read a few of Chomsky’s books and recommend everyone to do the same – The man has written over 70 books on politics not to mention over 30 on linguistics! You can buy / rent the film or watch it free here on Google.
“The question in brief is whether democracy and freedom are values to be observed or threats to be avoided.” Noam Chomsky
