Chair-ish the Kids
March 23, 2010
Check out my painting for the 14th Annual Art Auction benefiting Kids on the Block for this Thursday night. Chair-ish is an auction of chairs and other types of artwork with a chair theme.
Kids on the Block is a youth development, non profit organization that travels throughout Middle Tennessee educating children and adults on tough issues using the ancient form of Bunraku puppetry.
These puppets are cool and the wonderful people that handle them do absolutely incredible work! I encourage anyone who is available to go or to check out the Stars Nashville website for more information. Kids On The Block serves about 40,000 children in Middle Tennessee and helps kids cope with bullying, child abuse, prejudice, divorce and other issues.
March 25 6:30 p.m. at the Loveless Barn in Bellevue
Note: I actually painted this as a study about 12 years ago with my dad while in Washington, DC. I remember almost missing my plane and that insane great taxi driver that made it to the airport in 10 seconds flat…
Mi Papa, Yances, Art Show at the Parthenon
March 1, 2010
My dad, Jorge Yances, is having an art exhibition at the Parthenon titled, “Cartagena Memories.” The work recently debuted at The Museo Historico de Cartagena in Colombia, South America.
The artwork takes us on a journey into a surreal world where past, present and future meander through a place where realism and imagination are one in subject and technique. The show opens Friday March 5 from 6-8pm and continues to June 26. You can go to his website yances.com for more images. There will be many people there Friday including myself so come out and enjoy!

Popsicles and Grenades Art Sale Online
February 2, 2010
I have decided that since art galleries take around 50% of the sale price of my work that I am going to sell it to you without their markup! So listed here are three framed limited edition archival prints in a great black wood frame.
Up first is The Media - represented in this American flag with words like smut, scandal, storms, spend, and scare that form the American red and white stripes. All of these “news stories” are what keep you distracted from what is really important. (Why did I not add “Sports” to this? I must have been on the edge of my seat watching the exciting game or glued to those important commercials or was I listening to the life changing play by play? Who knows ……. ………. ………. ………wait ……… ……… ….. just a ……. ..…. ..…….. …. I’m listening ….... .……….. ……. hold on …..… ……… one minute ………. ..……… almost ………. ..………. ..… ok sorry…… …….. .…… what was I saying? My apologies, I was changing the channel.)
Up next is Smoking is Good for You! Or is it Cigarettes are Good for You! Well either way that is what the doctors used to tell us – and I freakin’ believed them man! Thankfully I have decided to think for myself now.
Finally we have Pink! What does this flag represent? You tell me and if I enjoy your answer I will give it to you for FREE and you can Give it to your dog for Valentine’s Day!
Just click on the image to buy that particular one or you can also get them without the frame for only $11 here. I do not have very many left and will not make anymore so get them while you can…
Everyday the Same Dream
January 28, 2010
You are late for work – Hurry you must please your Boss! Your cubicle is waiting for you.
Political game designers Molleindustria have developed another interesting game, but this time the goal is to free your self from the monotony of everyday work.
Molleindustria is an italian team of artists, designers and programmers that aims at starting a serious discussion about social and political implications of video games. In the creator Paolo Pedercini’s own words, Every Day The Same Dream is “a short existential game about alienation and refusal of labor.”
To complete the game you must change you current behavior and become numb to the harsh realities of corporate capitalism and then you will set yourself free.
The creative game was made in less than a week as an entry for the Experimental Gameplay Project. You can play it online, or download it for either Mac or PC.
Yes you can beat this game! Free yourself – it is not too late…
