Love Your Mother – Earth Day
April 22, 2009 by Jorge Arrieta
This poster is a limited edition of only 11 serigraphs to preserve paper this earth day. The paper is a bit smaller than most of my other work and there is a lot of white space to save ink. I could have not made anything at all and that would have really been more beneficial to the environment, but I thought it would feel good to spread some love to mother earth and all of the mothers out there.
My Drawing in book The Bridge, The Eric Voltz Story
April 16, 2009 by Jorge Arrieta
My drawing of the map of Nicaragua is in the book The Bridge, The Eric Voltz Story by Michael Glasgow. On November 21, 2006, Doris Jimenez was brutally raped, sodomized and strangled in the picturesque town of San Juan del Sur located on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua. Four men were arrested in association with the crime including her former boyfriend Eric Volz, a twenty-something American from Nashville, TN. With air-tight alibis, Voltz should have been exonerated within days. Instead, he was found guilty and given the maximum sentence of thirty years of which he served almost a year prior to being released.
The following is a quote from the book which is incredibly relevant to the United States and the rest of the world. Latin American poet Pablo Neruda wrote, “Latin America is very fond of the word ‘hope.’ We like to be called the ‘continent of hope.’ Candidates for deputy, senator, president call themselves ‘candidates of hope.’ This hope is really something of a promise of heaven, an IOU whose payment is always being put off. It is put off until the next legislative campaign, until the next year, until the next century.”
If you enjoy books, wine and smart conversation: On Thursday, April 16th from 6-7pm there is an Evening with an Author at Martha’s (Belle Meade Plantation, 5025 Harding Road) featuring Michael Glasgow, author of The Bridge: The Eric Volz Story.
Never pay Tax again!
April 14, 2009 by Jorge Arrieta
You probably have not seen this on tv, but I assure you that it is the easiest tax form available. The form is called the F-off exemption. Just attach this to your IRS form or present it when tax is applied. That is it! Although you may get more enjoyment by listing your exemptions like Skip Jones from Nashville, TN. This is what he has informed me works well for him:
“Anytime someone says, ‘The total is this plus tax’ I calmly show them my form and say, ‘F-off pal! I already paid my taxes.’ Works every time.”
On April 15 there will be a tax and protest against the ridiculous, out-of -control government spending in most large cities in the nation. Some are calling these protests – tax payer tea parties. I will be at the Legislative Plaza in Nashville at 12:00.
So the next time you told to pay taxes remember your form…
Use at your own risk.
Stimulus Package: Recession to Depression
April 9, 2009 by Jorge Arrieta
I just finished printing my stimulus piece with the help of Dominique and the serigraph turned out well. Like the stimulus package, the artwork is large, but unlike the stimulus the price is small. My stimulus poster speaks for itself, but below are some enlightening words from Ron Paul and a video discussing why he believes the stimulus funding is a destructive policy. Here is the original story: Stimulus Packages Will Turn Recession Into A Depression
“This stimulus package is going to cost each and every American $6700 of more debt, so how can that be beneficial? If debt was the answer we would of never had a problem.”
“It’s because the government is spending it. If the people were spending it it would be fine, but the government never does anything productive. They have to take money from productive individuals and spend it in non productive ways, so it’s just digging a bigger hole, getting us into bigger debt, and that is the problem.”
“What we’re worried about right now, well certainly I am, is that it’s worse than the 30’s because we’re on the verge of destroying the dollar. So if you think the financial crisis is bad, and the financial system isn’t working, wait ’til you find out when the Dollar doesn’t work.”
“If you want to regulate, regulate Government agencies, regulate the Treasury, regulate the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve has no oversight, they’re not even permitted to be audited by law, so that’s the kind of oversight we need. The Federal Reserve has committed trillions of dollars to individuals, corporations and banks, they don’t even have to tell us where it’s gone to.” Ron Paul
